For the first time in history more than half of earth's population lives in an urban environment. In Skanska we aim to continually develop our understanding of what shapes and constitutes sustainable societies. This will enable us not only to develop and construct in a more sustainable way, but also in a way that helps people contribute to sustainable development – today and for generations to come.
Our approach
Energy and CO2 - We always use the most energy efficient solutions and provide energy to our projects that comes from renewable sources, this resulting in reduced carbon emissions and implicitly reduced air pollution. We use and promote eco-transportation, measure and limit Skanska carbon footprint.
Materials - Our goal is to use zero hazardous materials and to divert waste from landfill as much as possible. We promote sustainable and regenerative material cycles.
Water – We always use the most water efficient solutions in order to protect and help restore water resources.
We developed Sustainability Road Map which sets future directions. By mapping our projects in each area, we can plan the goal for each year. Action plans and sustainability goals are created accordingly by each project team. We monitor our progress and plan yearly targets at the beginning of each year.
By developing sustainable projects, we contribute to reducing global climate change.
