Certifications make sustainability performance comparable, and investors and customers expect comparable disclosures on our sustainability performance. We continue to offer our customers excellent certified projects using established certification schemes.

Environmental certifications

LEED certification

LEED certification is a globally recognized symbol of sustainability achievement. It provides a framework for healthy, efficient, carbon and cost-saving green buildings. In Central and Eastern Europe, we require that each commercial building that we build must be certified with the LEED certificate. To date, we certified 76 office projects with over 1 million square meters of leasable area.

In Romania, Equilibrium 1 and 2 are LEED Platinum certified.

Certifications that include social impact

WELL certification

An international certificate confirming the quality of the project and its high-class performance from the perspective of the health and well-being of its users. It measures and monitors features of the built environment that impact human health and wellbeing, through air, water, nourishment, light, fitness, comfort, and mind.

Our commercial buildings have been certified with WELL since 2018 and to date, 13 of our office projects and 5 of our workplaces have been successfully awarded with this certification.

WELL Health-Safety Rating

The WELL Health-Safety Rating for Facility Operations and Management is an evidence-based, third-party verified pathway for addressing acute health threats, including COVID-19 and beyond. It confirms the preparation of the building in terms of the solutions and procedures used for crises – such as a pandemic.

This certification must be verified annually to confirm the building continuously provides a healthy and safe environment. In Central and Eastern Europe, all our commercial projects must be WELL Health-Safety rated and recertified every year.

Access4You certificate

Access4you is an international certification that assesses the built environment and provides detailed and reliable accessibility information about the audited buildings, to people living with mobility, vision, hearing, and cognitive disabilities.

The Equilibrium complex stands as a testament to Skanska's unwavering dedication to sustainability and accessibility. As the first and only building in Romania certified with Access4You Silver, Equilibrium 2 not only meets the highest standards of sustainability but also ensures inclusivity for all its occupants.

WiredScore Certification

WiredScore certification recognizes and promotes best-in-class digitally connected buildings globally and helps increase the value of the building for both potential tenants and future owners.

Equilibrium 2 is the first WiredScore Platinum-certified building in Romania and the first Skanska project in the CEE to obtain such a valuable certification. This confirms that Equilibrium 2 is a space fully equipped in terms of internet, mobile infrastructure, and communication network connectivity.

Energy reduction in new office buildings

Annual expected energy reduction in divested office buildings developed by Skanska Commercial Development units in Nordics, Europe, and the USA, in relation to the LEED certification system's established baseline.
