Skanska Construction Romania built for Lidl Romania its first supermarket located in the Aviatiei neighbourhood, the northern area of Bucharest. The supermarket was developed according to state-of-the-art green solutions.
The 1,400 sq. meters building, features modern green technologies aligned to the highest sustainability and energy efficiency standards. The building uses recycled and recyclable materials, such as crushed concrete and features photovoltaic panels that produce up to 100 percent of the energy needed to run. The supermarket receives natural light as well as light from a LED lighting system run by an energy-efficient lighting control system that incorporates presence sensors.
The unit is equipped with five charging stations for electric cars, one of which is for fast charging, as well as a covered bike parking area.
The building is awaiting its BREEAM Outstanding classification.
